Mark Baigent - O B O E
The unique sound of Pipers 3 is made by 'three remarkable oboists' - Mark Baigent, Jessica Mogridge and Julian West. Together they form one of Europe's leading oboe trios; their CD "Intercession" being seen as a landmark recording.
Since their inception in 1990, they have continually explored & commissioned new repertoire as well as experimented with new ways of performing.
With the oboe trio's roots in eighteenth century Vienna, Pipers 3's repertoire includes two exceptional works by Beethoven whilst their more recent repertoire demonstrates a continued interest in this combination of instruments shown by today's composers with outstanding works by James MacMillan, Michael Finnissy and Gilbert Amy with music that captures and embraces the new, the historical and ethnic influences from around the world.
Audiences are continually captivated by the wide range of sound and expression that is characteristic of this trio and amazed by the variety and quality of their repertoire.
Competition successes include The Young Concert Artists
Trust, The Royal Overseas League, Bromsgrove Festival, Radio 3
Young Artists' Platform, the Countessof Munster Recital Scheme,
South-East Arts Young Musicians' Platform, the John Tunnell Trust
and the 'Vandoren Prize' at UFAM, Paris.
Pipers 3 have broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4 and on Classic FM.
